Corrections and Expert Review Process
How OwnerHacks reviews homeowner guidance, handles corrections, and keeps money-related recommendations separate from editorial judgment.
Last updated: May 2026. OwnerHacks publishes general homeowner education about buying, mortgage payments, insurance, taxes, maintenance, repairs, and ownership costs. We aim to make practical guidance clear, current, and easy to verify.
How expert review works
Some OwnerHacks guides are reviewed or informed by people with relevant real-world experience, including residential appraisal, insurance, mortgage, real estate, tax, inspection, repair, or homeowner-cost backgrounds. Reviewers may check whether the guidance is practical, balanced, and useful for homeowners.
Expert review does not turn an article into legal, tax, lending, insurance, appraisal, inspection, or financial advice for a specific reader. Homeowners should verify decisions with the appropriate licensed professional, lender, insurer, contractor, local authority, or tax advisor.
What reviewers look for
- Whether the article explains the decision clearly.
- Whether important tradeoffs, exceptions, and risks are included.
- Whether the page avoids unsupported promises, fear-based claims, or fake certainty.
- Whether links and next steps are useful for the reader, not just promotional.
- Whether affiliate or advertising relationships are disclosed when relevant.
How corrections are handled
If we find an error, outdated explanation, broken link, unclear disclosure, or misleading wording, we may update the page. Small fixes may be made without a visible correction note. Material changes may be reflected in the page copy, updated date, or supporting notes where appropriate.
To report a correction, email contact@ownerhacks.com and include the page URL, the issue, and any source or context that helps us verify it.
Editorial independence
OwnerHacks may earn money from ads, affiliate links, or referral relationships. Compensation does not decide our conclusions. Sponsored or affiliate links should be labeled and should not replace the practical explanation a homeowner needs to make a good decision.
